We all have fond childhood memories. One of my earliest was of playing the classic Space Invaders on the Atari 2600 and the many hours of joy it gave me. Fast forward to the year 2009 and i’m thinking of creating something that will celebrate the countless hours of entertainment this simple yet addictive game gave me in a humorous style. Designed to appeal to both old school gamers and the younger generation who enjoy icing out icons, the Blingvader is the ultimate in street cred retro cool.

Hurricane (Angry Buda Remix) by fixd

We here at Fixd have had the pleasure and honour of one of our most popular tunes, “Hurricane”, being remixed by the west coast turntable maestro and producer extraordinaire, Angry Buda.

Angry Buda’s well polished skills at creating lyrically infused, melodic yet pumping dance tunes have created something very special with this remix. All the true guts of Hurricane still remain, but the addition of a few eerily dulcet harmonies, and a huge drop, have given Hurricane a jagged yet razor sharp new edge.

Look out for the official release of this with the Hurricane single launch later in 2010, and don’t forget to check out more of Angry Buda’s creations!

Less than a month ago, Flic posted about the music video concept getting an overwhelming response from dancers and film crew alike (50 dancers and 3 film crews) all keen to work and be involved for recognition, without payment. The concept involves creating a full music video with passion and no budget yet achieving a high quality outcome and visibility for the crew, dancers and Fixd. When speaking to Flic she mentioned:

“In Melbourne, there are a lot of people who have amazing skills in dancing, film, photography and more all looking to get ’seen’ in the industry by working on fantastic projects. I wanted to challenge the ideology that a one-off payment is better than the visibility of passion by using this music video as the vessel. When money is limited or not included, people get involved for the love and often let their imagination run stronger and in return it produces magical results.” – Flic Manning

The amazing outcry of support for this video clip has been astounding. Those who have volunteered their help will undoubtedly be kept in mind for future video clips that will be fully funded and will be produced with the same passion and a level of experience that few crews get to have. Hurricane is the first of many unique clips to be made, and its conception marks the beginning of an era where Fixd will make its mark not just through music but through dance and film too.

Track “Hurricane” by Fixd (C), Filmic ideas and Choreography by Fixd (C) and Flic Manning (C) 2010

Synopsis:

Warehouse location with Dancers (10) who are dancing a choreographed routine representing the energy and rhythm of the song in a street style.

Fixd (2 members) walk into the warehouse aware of a feeling of energy coming from it and being able to hear the music but unable to see the dancers in the warehouse.

There is a door way in the centre of the room- this represents the entrance to a parallel universe. The dancers are in one universe in the warehouse and Fixd are in another. There are a lot of shots showing the two universes.

Fixd eventually end up going through the door way into the dancer’s universe and they are summoned to a set of Decks to play the rest of the song.

By making that choice to enter the Dancer’s universe the doorway will disappear; Fixd are now part of the energy of the song just as the dancers are. The door way falls. Final shot is the warehouse empty with the door falling creating a “bomb fall out wave”.

March 9 will hail the first official release for Fixd in 2010. Through the fabulous Mizumo Music will come Chauvin McIntosh’s ravey, fidgety, slice of electro, “Vibe”, and the release will feature the Chunky Remix by none other than us – Fixd!

The “Vibe” pack will also contain remixes from the likes of Frost-Raven, Kerrie Nation, Klangstruktur Ost, and Dunno – so much dancefloor punishing talent on one release!

Mizumo Music is a San Francisco based label, specialising in “Funky, Filtered, Quality, House”. A special mention must also go to DJ Denise for being one of our initial contacts with Mizumo and definitely going beyond the call of duty to get the Fixd sound on board for the Vibe release.

The relationship between Mizumo Music and Fixd has been healthy and ongoing since 2009, and we certainly look forward to doing more remixing for them in the future, as well as perhaps sliding an original release or two through their very professional and impeccably tasteful hands!

Get Chauvin McIntosh’s “Vibe”, including the Fixd Chunky Remix, from Beatport as of March 9 2010, and annoy your neighbours with it – We know your backside won’t be able to stay still to this one!

If we do say so ourselves, this track just rocks our socks – and massive respect to the geniuses that are Muse for creating such an impressive track to begin with. Have a listen for yourself and see what you think – Does it blow the other remixes out of the water?

Big News! Our massive piece of ruff edged electro, “Hurricane” is set to be spun in clubs and parties across the UK. Fixd was recently approached by Bomber Kid of The Groove Syndicate in England asking to use Hurricane as a regular feature in his sets, and of course, we were only too happy to oblige his thirst for beats & bass.

The Groove Syndicate are Bomber Kid, Trickee Rolla, DJ Lo Dose, and Robbie Shanks, and have a number of residencies across England. Their upcoming show is at The Royal in Derby (second Sataurday of every month if you’re in the neighborhood), and it’s bound to be an absolute cracker! Be sure to check them out on Facebook too.

No doubt that if we keep pumping out decent tunes, and The Groove Syndicate get a good response, that more Fixd music will be flowing over to the mother country!
